Shivapuri – Nagi Gumba Hike

The Nagi Gumba Hike leads to a quiet Buddhist nunnery overlooking Kathmandu Valley and is considered the most relaxing and shortest hike inside Shivapuri National Park. It can be completed within a few hours from the entrance point at Pani Muhan / Vipassana Centre. The trail combines forest paths with cultural highlights, gradually climbing through dense pine and oak forests filled with bird calls and fresh mountain air. Along the way, you may spot monkeys and other small wildlife.
At Nagi Gumba (1,650 m), you’ll find a peaceful monastery run by Buddhist nuns—an ideal place for a short rest, reflection, or even tea with the locals. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views of Kathmandu Valley. You may return the same way or extend the hike deeper into the national park toward Bishnudwar, Baghdwar, or Shivapuri Peak if you want more adventure.

Pack Essentials
Carry sufficient water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, and sturdy hiking shoes. Even though the trail isn’t overly challenging, being well-prepared makes the experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

03

Respect Nature
Always take your trash with you, avoid disturbing wildlife, and be mindful of the plants and natural surroundings.

04
