Itinerary

Day 1Arrival – Thimphu
After arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by your guide and drive 60km (45mins) to the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu and check into your hotel. Depending on your flight arrival time, sightseeing will begin today or you will dine at your hotel and rest for a full day tour the following day.

Day 2Thimphu Sightseeing & drive to Paro
This morning we visit National Memorial Chorten (Stupa), a monument to world peace and Kuenselphodrang to see one of the largest statue of Buddha Dordenma. We then go to the Takin Preserve to see the national animal of Bhutan, the takin – a large, muscular, hoofed mammal sometimes referred to as a goat antelope. We then visit Folk Heritage Museum and the Traditional Arts & Crafts School nearby. Lunch will be at a restaurant in town and then continue to visit the Textile Museum followed by a stroll down craft bazaar for some souvenir shopping. After we visit kaja throm, the farmers market. In the evening, drive towards Paro and check into hotel.

Day 3Tigers Nest Monastery Hike
We start early at 6am today and dive to Paro for our hike to the famous landmark of Bhutan that hangs on a cliff at 3120m. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava was carried from Tibet to this location on the back of a tigress thus giving it the name Taktsang, meaning Tigers Nest. On average the hike takes about 5hrs with an elevation gain of around 1000m; 2hrs uphill, an hour visiting the temple and another 2hrs back down.
Lunch today can be had at the half point cafeteria or you can head back to base. For those who wish to can hire a horse to ride till the half point. After the hike, we visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan and lastly end with visit to Paro Rinpung Dzong. We then freshen up at the hotel and have some free time to stroll around Paro town and shop or have a cup of coffee/tea at one of the many cute cafes in old town structures.

Day 4Depart from Paro Airport
This morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
