Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu & Evening at Kathmandu Durbar Square
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you are welcomed and transferred to a centrally located hotel (approx. 30–40 minutes). After check-in, spend the evening exploring Kathmandu Durbar Square, observing Newar-style temples, palace courtyards, and intricately carved wooden windows. Stroll through nearby alleys where local artisans sell traditional crafts, and witness evening rituals at small shrines tucked within the square.
Day 2Panauti, Dhulikhel & Banepa – Traditional Newar Towns
After breakfast, drive approximately 1–1.5 hours to Panauti, a medieval Newar town at the confluence of two rivers. Explore its local settlements, temples, and shrines, learning about Newar festivals, social life, and artisan crafts. Continue to Banepa, another traditional town, where you can interact with local artisans and observe age-old pottery, weaving, and metalwork techniques. Return to Kathmandu in the evening.
Day 3Bhaktapur Full-Day Cultural Exploration
Drive 45–60 minutes to Bhaktapur, a living museum of Newar culture. Spend the day exploring Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Nyatapola Temple, and Taumadhi Square, while learning about local rituals, pottery, and woodcraft. Visit artisan workshops, interact with craftsmen, and observe traditional cooking techniques. Afternoon tea at a courtyard café provides an opportunity to soak in the city’s timeless charm before returning to Kathmandu. From Sankhu, a short uphill walk leads to Tokha, another Newar village with centuries-old monasteries and stupas.
