Itinerary

Day 1Kathmandu to Sundarijal and Trek to Chisapani (Approx. 5–6 hours)

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, a serene village on the outskirts of the city. From here, the trek ascends gradually through lush forests rich with rhododendron and pine trees. Along the way, you will pass small rural hamlets where local villagers engage in traditional farming and craftwork, providing an authentic glimpse into Nepalese rural life. The trail offers refreshing mountain air and intermittent views of the Kathmandu Valley below. As you approach Chisapani, a peaceful hilltop village at about 2,200 meters, prepare to be rewarded with stunning panoramic vistas of Himalayan peaks such as Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and on clear days, Mount Everest. Settle into a cozy teahouse and enjoy the serene mountain atmosphere as the sun sets behind the majestic ranges.

Day 2Chisapani to Nagarkot (Approx. 4–5 hours)

Wake early to catch a breathtaking Himalayan sunrise at Chisapani, watching as the golden light gradually illuminates the towering peaks. After breakfast, begin your descent through mixed forests filled with oaks, pines, and rhododendrons. The trail winds through terraced farmland and quiet villages, giving you a close look at traditional farming practices and rural lifestyles. Arriving at Nagarkot, famed for its sweeping Himalayan views, you can spend the afternoon exploring the village or simply relax at your lodge, taking in one of the best vantage points for mountain panoramas in the Kathmandu Valley region. If weather permits, witness a glorious sunset that bathes the Annapurna, Langtang, and Everest ranges in warm hues.

Day 3Dhulikhel to Namobuddha and Trek to Balthali (Approx. 5 hours)

Today, your trek follows ancient village paths from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel,a town known for its rich Newari culture and spectacular Himalayan views. The trail moves gently along ridgelines and through traditional villages, terraced fields, and patches of forest. This route provides excellent opportunities to interact with local residents, observe their daily lives, and enjoy the region’s agricultural landscapes. Upon reaching Dhulikhel, you can explore its bustling market area, visit ancient temples, and appreciate the intricate wood and stone craftsmanship that the Newar community is famous for. As the day winds down, take in panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna and Ganesh Himal ranges, from viewpoints near town. Overnight in a guesthouse or boutique lodge.

Day 5Balthali to Kathmandu with Visits to Panauti and Bhaktapur

Your final day begins with a drive from Balthali back toward Kathmandu. Along the way, stop at Panauti, a charming medieval town known for its well-preserved temples, bustling bazaars, and lively cultural festivals. Stroll through the narrow cobbled streets, admire intricate wood carvings on traditional Newari houses, and perhaps visit historic temples such as Indreshwar and Panauti Durbar Square. Afterward, continue to Bhaktapur, one of Nepal’s three ancient royal cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bhaktapur is famous for its stunning pagoda-style temples, elaborate courtyards, and artisan workshops producing pottery, woodcraft, and paubha paintings. Spend ample time exploring Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, and Nyatapola Temple. After your cultural immersion, continue on to Kathmandu city, where your trek concludes. You may spend the night in Kathmandu or proceed with onward travel arrangements.
